A pair of jumpers to help disability charity in Lowestoft

Two intrepid ladies from Worlingham are taking part in a sponsored parachute jump next month to raise money for disability charity Optua’s leisure activities in the Lowestoft area.

Carol Wilson who works for Optua’s community brain injury services and Anita Dyer whose son has a disability are both planning to do the jump on 3rd October at Beccles Heliport.

Both Carol and Anita are seeking sponsors to help raise money for Optua’s Learning through Leisure service in the Lowestoft area. Learning through Leisure provides meaningful leisure activities for adults with a learning disability which also gives their carers a respite break.

Carol said: “We wanted to do something to help raise money for the Learning through Leisure service which does such great work in the Lowestoft area. We recently went along to one of their activity nights and you can see how much those involved enjoy taking part and it also gives their carers a break. Anita’s son Alex also knew a lot of the people they support from school so it was good to make the connection and meet the people we’re trying to help.”

Learning through Leisure works by pairing volunteers with people with a learning disability to help them plan and enjoy different activities of their choice. There are also monthly clubs which provide an opportunity for people to socialise and enjoy meals out, the cinema, bowling, swimming and much more.

If anyone would like to sponsor Carol and Anita please call Optua on 01473 836777.
