… so start the accolades for Cole Porter’s classic musical High Society and following a sell-out summer season last year at the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre in London, the show has been on a national tour during 2007. Now the show is coming to Beccles Public Hall in the autumn to be performed by local theatre group, WLOG.

Auditions were held recently, the cast has been assembled and rehearsals are under way under the watchful eye of Stage Director, Christine Mullord and Musical Director, David Kett. Both are well-respected in the area and will bring a professional approach to the amateur performers.

The cast includes Sarah and Ian Cook from Halesworth who respectively took the lead roles in last autumn’s production of Annie Get Your Gun and the group’s production of Disco Inferno this spring. Also in the cast are Chris Steed (Musical Director for Disco Inferno) and his wife Helen (Lady Marmalade in Disco Inferno) taking the lead roles of Dexter Haven and Tracy Lord.

High Society is a giddy blend of corking songs, fizzing one-liners and champagne-fuelled farce and features some of Cole Porter’s greatest songs including: Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?, Swell Party, I Love Paris and True Love.

So book the dates now and join WLOG for the society wedding of the year. The flowers will have arrived, the champagne will be on ice and the guests, press and paparazzi will be assembling. All that will be needed is for the bride to choose the groom …

Performances of High Society will be in Beccles Public Hall from

Tuesday 16th October to Saturday 20th October 2007.
