Piaf Diss Corn Hall

Autumn may be in the air, but the romance and nostalgia of Paris in the Springtime comes to the beautifully refurbished and historic Corn Hall in Diss on Saturday 4th November, when Dreamcast Productions present their show ‘Non, Je ne Regrette Rien’, a tribute to the life, loves and music of France’s most iconic singer Edith Piaf.

Featuring Edith’s best loved songs, along with those of her friend and fellow artist Charles Aznavour, ‘Non, Je ne Regrette Rien’ pays homage to the life of this remarkable woman. Performed in French and English, Piaf and Aznavour’s famous songs include ‘La Vie en Rose’, ‘Autumn Leaves’, Padam Padam, ‘She’, and of course Edith’s torch song ‘Non, Je ne Regrette Rien’.   A meteoric rise to fame, a tumultuous and tragic personal life, and death at just 47 years old, the life of ‘La Môme Piaf’ (The Little Sparrow), has the appeal of a romantic tragedy. It is the story of a unique woman whose voice and heart captivated the world.

Whether audiences are already devotees of Edith’s songs, or are hearing her music for the first time, ‘Non, Je ne Regrette Rien‘ recalls an artist whose work has more than stood the test of time, touching the hearts of millions of fans, and gives an insight into the extraordinary woman whose voice, and presence on stage has secured her place in history as a musical icon.

When Edith Piaf died in 1963, the teeming Paris traffic came to a standstill. Over 40,000 people formed a funeral cortège which crammed and hushed the streets in an unprecedented outpouring of grief and devotion for one tiny woman. Such was, and remains, the magic of Edith Piaf.
