A fine weekend in Brancaster Staithe & Burnham Deepdale
Friday 21st to Sunday 23rd June 2013
Late June is a great time to visit the North Norfolk Coast with three excellent events over one weekend and some amazing places to stay. Why not make a weekend of it, stay, enjoy the events and discover the beautiful North Norfolk Coast, particularly our lovely villages – Brancaster Staithe & Burnham Deepdale
Norfolk Ale & Music Festival
Friday 21st to Sunday 23rd June
Jolly Sailors, Brancaster Staithe
Summer’s arrived and we are celebrating at The Jolly Sailors and getting ready for the 4th Norfolk Ale & Music Festival being held in our garden marquee on 21, 22 & 23 June (marquee opens 2pm on 21st).
There is an amazing line up of live musical talent from across the region to suit all tastes throughout the weekend – rock, 60s, samba, shanty singing and lots more. For a full programme of events see www.jollysailorsbrancaster.co.uk
And of course there’ll be a wide selection of real ales and cider from the best Norfolk microbreweries.
We have new summer menus with delicious choices from light bites, jolly burgers, stone baked pizzas and ’big’ plates.
There’s a fun children’s playground and a beach themed ice cream hut to keep the younger ones happy.
We’ll be fundraising on Saturday afternoon with games and stalls in aid of Brancaster Primary School and there will be a bucket collection throughout the weekend for Nelson’s Journey, a charity bringing back smiles to bereaved children in Norfolk.
There will be something for everyone to enjoy, free entry, all very welcome.

Midsummer Art Exhibition
Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd June
Village Hall, Brancaster Staithe
The Midsummer Art Exhibition was started last year with a group of 27 local artists from Norfolk and Suffolk. This year we have once again brought together about 20 artists (27 was rather too many!) for an exhibition of paintings in a variety of media and prices.
The Exhibition is to be held at Brancaster Staithe Village Hall on Saturday 22nd June from 10am to 6pm and Sunday 23rd June from 11am to 5pm. John Glover, a portrait painter, who is one of the tutors at West Norfolk Arts Centre is exhibiting and also doing a portrait painting demonstration on Sunday 23rd.
Entrance is free.
Winter on Deepdale Marsh by Karen Adams
Gardens Open
Sunday 23rd June
Brancaster Staithe & Burnham Deepdale
On Sunday 23 June from 11am to 5pm, eight gardens and a church full of wedding flowers will be open for viewing in Burnham Deepdale and Brancaster Staithe along the A149, the main road through the village. Visitors will be able to enjoy a wide variety of gardens from those next to the marsh to others with a southerly aspect and one tiny hidden gem – an inspiration for those with very small spaces.
Snack lunches, teas and coffees will be available, as will stalls selling plants, cakes and books. Entry to all eight gardens will be by programme from any participating garden at £4 per person (children are free). Look out for flower signs with balloons. All proceeds will go to Deepdale Church’s building maintenance fund – www.burnhamdeepdale.co.uk/stmarys
