The Rt. Revd. Jonathan Meyrick, Bishop of Lynn

A CHANCE FOR THE COMMUNITY TO BE HEARD!

Pop, Corn & Grace FM 87.7 is back. The popular Christian community radio project based across communities around Aylsham will be launching their fourth annual broadcast at 6pm on May 31st broadcasting on 87.7 FM and the Internet continuously until 9pm on June 4th 2017.

After months of preparation, and in conjunction with the month-long “12 Towers Festival”, our all-age team have put together an amazing schedule packed with thought provoking, inspirational and uplifting stories from the heart of our town and rural parishes, whilst looking at what is happening in the wider world.

Celebrating all God’s gifts in this inspirational season leading up to Pentecost on June 4th, which is during the Archbishops’ special prayer initiative “Thy Kingdom Come”; we will hear daily reflections from our bishops and archdeacon as they look through this lens.

Highlights include :  a special look at pilgrimages with the Bishop of Norwich; Truth and Reconciliation in S. Africa from two senior clergy who lived there in the 1980’s at the height of apartheid; Parish Nursing; our Kids Team (ages 8+) will be producing and presenting their own 30 minute slot each evening; followed by our teenage team and their take on life and music. There are Proms in the Church and plenty of news from the 12 Towers Festival, including our own special Outside Broadcast with our roving reporters in Aylsham Town Square on Saturday June 3rd . On Sunday June 4th, we will be broadcasting a specially recorded service led by the Bishop of Lynn celebrating the Coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost.

Our Patron, The Rt. Revd. Jonathan Meyrick, Bishop of Lynn had this to say:

“Pop, Corn & Grace have come a long way in four years. Always ambitious and willing to push boundaries I am thrilled to hear their plans for 2017 and am delighted be taking part on Thursday June 1stWhen we set out in 2014, outside broadcasts and live streaming of concerts were things we could only dream about; but here we are now – thanks to the commitment of our excellent technical team – with the ability to make this happen. We are also going to be engaging with some thought-provoking topics in our discussion programmes for example: features on Restorative Justice, Apartheid, and How We Care for our Planet.  There is much to entertain too and virtually every genre of music will be represented in the playlists. We are Pop, Corn & Grace – engaging with Popular culture, a little bit Corny (on occasions) but with God’s Grace we seek to reach out to all in our communities in love and service”.
