Vintage Style Jump Jive

DJs The Muffin Man, of Jivebunnies, and AndyAV8, have a much-loved attachment to the Public Hall as it was Jivebunnies who introduced afternoon tea dances for all age groups. The team has since had great success with their magic  Jump Jive dances when you are welcome to turn up in vintage attire for a spiffing evening of 40s and some 50s jive and swing numbers.

The King of Swing is back in May

This will be the third time that King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys have performed at Beccles in so many years and boy, do we love them!  Described on many occasions as “quite possibly the best Swing band in the world” we are extremely fortunate to enjoy the top sounds of these generous-hearted lads from the Midlands who look positively continental in their electric blue colour suits.

Featuring our very own DJ, Mark R’n’B Bale, the evening is set to be as stunningly exciting as ever so we do suggest you buy your tickets set at £12 each, nice and early to avoid disappointment! Last year was another sell-out event! King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys will be performing on Saturday 16th May, doors open at 7.45m for 8.30pm.

The Public Hall has real Soul!

Among the great successes of the Public Hall are the emerging genres of dance which are “hitting the spot” for so many people in the Beccles community and surrounding areas. “We are so fortunate to have a gorgeous oak sprung dance floor”. ” Don’t ever change it, is a common request from many keen dancers to which the response is, never, don’t worry”! said Sue Bergin, Event Coordinator.

When local DJ, Mark Bale, approached us with his idea to bring Northern Soul and Motown evenings to the Hall, we trusted in Mark and revelled in his passion and clear vision for Beccles Soul Time!

The renaissance of the true sound of Northern Soul from those heady Wigan Casino evenings is having massive success all over Britain.  Soul Time! at Beccles has grown to the exciting level it is today – a sell-out of one hundred and twenty dancers at each of the last three events. If you haven’t experienced the brilliant atmosphere and simmering Soul sounds of which Mark and his guest DJs have hundreds of vinyl 45s, make a diary note for Saturday 6th June, doors open at 7.30pm for 8pm. Tickets are just £6.

All tickets and programmes are available from the Box Office at Beccles Public Hall, Smallgate, Beccles, which is open from Monday to Saturday, 10am to 3pm.
