Dementia Friendly

Since the Public Hall team has been successful in their bid to become a Dementia Friendly organisation to fund a support group called Forget-me-not @ the Hall twice a month, 1st Tues and third Monday in the month, support has been steadily growing.

There’s a really lovely varied programme of entertainers lined and we are particularly looking forward to Monday 19 June at 2pm when we welcome the amazing Palomar – a terriffic Benny Goodman style chamber jazz trio. Ray Simmons on piano played with Ron Hockett and Craig Hipperson las July and it was pretty much a sell-out at the Hall” continued Jenny.

Forget-me-not clubs have been very successfully run by Suffolk Age UK for people with memory problems and for family carers. The very popular group supported by Vicky Hutchinson, Dementia Development Community Officer with Suffolk Age UK,  has been offering an interesting & lively programme of events every first Tuesday

Make a date and come to Beccles Public Hall on the first Tuesday and third Monday of each month from 2pm to 4pm for R&R (Relax and Reminisce) and memories through music and much more!

“We look forward to welcoming new and existing people and we are so pleased to offer the Public Hall as a central venue for people with memory loss and their carers.  There are great facilities at the Hall for live music and for other activities. All events are free and refreshments will cost just £1 for a hot drink and piece of cake” added Sue.”Great thanks to Tesco, Beccles, for supplying the group with cakes” added Sue.

“Many thanks to Suffolk Community Foundation and Suffolk Age Uk for their superb support to initiate this project and for the work they already do for people with memory loss and their carers” added Jenny.
