Crafty mums showcase best of Beccles

Four enterprising mums are holding an event to remember on 9 November when the first Beccles Real Craft Festival will open its doors to unveil a cornucopia of craft.

From sewing to spinning, screen prints to workshops, the festival is a showcase of local crafters’ work. It’s set to be a fusion of stalls, expert demonstrations, workshops and live music, all sharing pride in local craftsmanship.

There will also be plenty on offer for children, including sewing and craft workshops, storytelling and biscuit decorating.

Beccles Real Craft Festival is being held at the St John’s Ambulance Hall, Blyburgate, Beccles on Saturday 9th November 2013 from 10am to 4pm.

One of the mums responsible for organising the event, Elfrede Mary Brambley Crawshaw, said: “We met through a passion for our craft and soon realised that our businesses complemented each other.”

Elfrede owns local screen printing company The Rainbow Screen and sewing business A Bit Crafty. She continued:  “We noticed that many of our friends were also keen crafters, producing handmade goods of excellent quality. We thought it would be wonderful to showcase exactly what creative people in Beccles have to offer and provide an experience in which everyone can get involved.”

“We love Beccles and hope our homegrown talent will draw people to our beautiful town. If we can have a hand in supporting local businesses this way, we’re thrilled,” said Emily Sayles of Elderflower Designs, who creates roman blinds, soft furnishings and hand painted furniture for vintage inspired interiors.

“We hope people are as excited as we are and would love to hear what they think,” says Jenni Mickleburgh of sewing business Made by Me. “We’ve set up Facebook and Twitter accounts so people can get involved right away.’
