On Saturday 21 November 2015, Beccles plays host to its third Real Craft Festival in what promises to be the town’s biggest and best showcase of crafts and handmade gifts to date.
Featuring talented local artists promoting everything from glass making to handcrafted jewellery, plus live demonstrations, workshops and children’s activities, the event will offer something for everyone.
The Festival takes place at the St Johns Ambulance Hall, Blyburgate from 10am to 4pm.
As a festival first, this year visitors will be able to purchase exclusive greetings cards featuring the iconic Beccles Bell Tower.
Organiser Elfrede Brambley-Crawshaw explains why Beccles’ third Real Craft Festival will be better than ever:
“This event is incredibly exciting for craft enthusiasts and those with a passion for beautiful things that aren’t always available in high street shops. This is a celebration of the immense talent on show from artists and organisations in and around the Beccles area. Each year the event has gone from strength to strength and 2015 will be no exception to the rule.
It’s also a brilliant opportunity to pick up some great gifts for friends and family in time for Christmas.”
Elfrede will be getting hands-on at the event, joining her mother Rosemary Brambley with a live and interactive demonstration of printing and spinning. Steph May of Beccles’ Mayflower Arts & Crafts will also offer visitors the opportunity to have a go at making jewellery and taking their creations home.
In the cafe there will be a cake stall, the proceeds of which will go to support local mum Sarah McAllister who is terminally ill. For more information on the current campaign for Sarah McAllister please see https://crowdfunding.justgiving.com/sarahssoldiers?utm_id
Caroline Carvosso will be serving tea and coffee in order to fundraise for Diabetes UK
Event co-organiser Verity Payne of ‘Les Petit Lapins Beccles’ will provide a French session from 11-11.30am for children who are keen to be inspired by a new language.
Joining the fun will be band Owl and Wolves from 11.30am-12.30pm, followed by the Children’s Music Group from 1.30-2pm.
Beccles Mayor Hugh Taylor will open the event at 10am.
