Blickling Proms weekend

Summer has officially started and the count-down is on for the eagerly awaited Blickling Proms weekend in August which promises two fantastic days of music and entertainment with huge, A-list acts on both Friday 12th and Saturday 13th August 2016; tickets sales have taken off so concert-goers are advised to book if they don’t want to miss out!

On Friday 12th, Blickling plays host to Classic Ibiza, an event that will be a first for Norfolk and organisers are expecting it to be a sell-out.  The Urban Soul Orchestra (USO) together with internationally-renowned DJ, Goldierocks (aka Sam Hall) will be bringing a taste of the White Island to Blickling.  The best Ibiza anthems over the last 20 years will be brought to life by a sexy, high-energy orchestra, phenomenal vocalists and one of the hottest international DJs will be throwing down an exclusive-party set. Welcome to #blicklingdoesIbiza.

Stephen Hussey, who founded the Urban Soul Orchestra said: “At Blickling, we will be playing the best party, club and chill-out music that grew so huge in the nightclubs of Ibiza over the last twenty or so years, including some recent hits that will be classics of the future.  The 1st half of the show will be more mellow and chilled out – we want people to come and enjoy their picnics and be entertained as they appreciate the beautiful surroundings at Blickling Hall, then for the 2nd half of the show, the party gets going.  It’s going to be a very special performance – we have some of our amazing singers fronting the orchestra and we are delighted to be working with DJ Goldierocks, who is one of Capital FM’s DJs.”

Goldierocks will do an exclusive party set during the interval, then as dusk falls, the Urban Soul Orchestra backed by talented, A-list vocalists Jina Burrows, Izzy Chase and Maxamillion Barnes-Davy will join Goldierocks on stage for the second half of the concert.  We challenge anyone not to be on their feet and dancing the rest of the night away!

USO-vocalists

The USO who have performed with artists including Annie Lennox, Jay-Z, Kylie Minogue, Mick Jagger, The Script, Take That and Gabrielle, have also played on some of the original tracks that they’ll be performing at Blickling, so it’s going to be special.

The sky above Blickling will also be lit up on both nights with extraordinary displays to wow the crowds.  On Friday, Laser Electronics Ltd will be putting on a bespoke laser show, the likes of which North Norfolk skies will never have seen before.  Clive Davie who founded the company 24 years ago, has worked for the BBC, ITV and Sky, as well as leading advertising agencies like Saatchi & Saatchi, putting on a multitude of shows for many of the major dance events throughout the UK and Europe, including Ibiza hotspots Space and Gatecrasher.  The process of producing a 15-minute show will typically take 40 man hours to produce and Clive is promising something really special: “We are looking forward to providing a unique Laser Lightshow for this Classic Ibiza event that we know no other Laser company in the UK can provide, and alongside the music it’s going to make the audience’s experience even greater.”

Saturday night sees both BLAKE and Classical Reflection take to the stage with Viva Sinfonia for an evening of classic film scores and proms favourites. The Brit Award-winning harmony are the UK’s hottest classical male group and they’re looking forward to playing at Blickling.  Currently touring the UK with their exciting new “Songs From Stage & Screen”, they are well-known for their ability to perform a huge mix of genres, using rich vocal harmonies.  Famous fans include Keira Knightley, Ewan McGregor, Kevin Spacey and Will Smith and they have played to the most prestigious audiences including for the Queen and Prince Harry at the Festival of Remembrance and even at the White House in the US.

Blake

BLAKE will be charming the Blickling audience with their charisma and beautiful harmonies.  In the first half, the music will step through some of the most iconic film scores of all time from classics like My Fair Lady and Lawrence of Arabia. BLAKE will also perform some of their best-loved classics, including You Raise Me Up, Hallelujah and Fields of Gold.  The second half will see BLAKE return to the stage to sing more iconic tracks such as Bring Him Home and Nessun Dorma as well as all the Proms favourites like Rule Britannia, Land of Hope & Glory and British anthem “Jerusalem”.

Classical twins, “Classical Reflection” who featured on the BBC’s “The Voice” show last year, will also join in to sing the beautiful “E Piu Ti Penso” from “Once Upon a Time in America.”  The evening will finish with a fireworks spectacular over the lake and the National Anthem.

Founder member of PYRO 2000, the company charged with putting on the fireworks’ extravanganza, Graham Wilkinson said: “I’m excited to be returning to Norfolk – Blickling is a fabulous venue and we’re going to be putting on a great show, bringing with us around three tonnes of fireworks and equipment. There will be around 600 individual fireworks, ranging from 30mm comet mines which will climb high into the sky like giant fingers of silver and gold to various calibre aerial shells which fill the sky like vast colourful parasols.

It’s going to be a fantastic weekend of music and entertainment, so don’t miss out!  Both events will be raising funds for The Benjamin Foundation by donating £1 for every programme sold.  Hampers are available to order on line and there will also be top quality food outlets at both events.
