The next Bungay Film Club film will be THE HUNT (15) at 7.30 pm on Monday 26 August.

A BAFTA nominated Danish drama in which a man, falsely accused of sexual abuse by his best friend’s five year old daughter, is hounded by his local community.  Mads Mikkelson (seen earlier in the year in A ROYAL AFFAIR, but best known as Le Chiffre the Bond villain in CASINO ROYALE) won the award for Best Actor at Cannes in 2012 for his performance as the ostracised teaching assistant.  Robbie Collin writes in The Daily Telegraph that it is rare that a film can make you laugh, cry and shake with fury all at the same time; even rarer when it does so for the right reasons.

Earleir in the month, Fisher Theatre Cinema have slotted an extra film into their programme.

A LATE QUARTET (15) plays on at 7.30 pm Saturday 10 August.

A moving drama about a New York string quartet whose uneasy harmony is put at risk by illness.  Nuanced performances from an ensemble cast featuring three of Americas finest screen actors, and music from the Brentano String Quartet, combine to create a clever, subtle film, in which the drama and music are of a piece.

Directed by Yaron Zilberman and starring Christopher Walken, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Catherine Keener.

Nigel Andrews in the Financial Times described the film as insightful and incandescent, a film for both music lovers and movie lovers.
