The Heritage Coast Market Towns Initiative (HCMTI) launched their 2014 Business Breakfast Club Calendar to business leaders from a diverse range of trades and industries at The Crown in Framlingham on Friday 10 January.

The aims of the BBC (as it’s fondly known to members) are threefold: giving the business community on the Suffolk Coast the opportunity to build their contact base and exchange ideas; providing a platform for business leaders, who are members of the local Business Assocaitions, to present their products and services in an informal environment; and showcasing member venues across the region.

Meetings, attracting an average of 20 guests covering 70 different businesses in 2013, take place on the 2nd Friday of every month at a variety of cafés, hotels, meeting and event venues. The 2014 calender displays a diverse mix including the Sizewell B Visitor Centre where guests will get an insider’s view of how their electricity is generated; the Wentworth and Brudenell Hotels and the beautiful stately home of Bruisyard Hall.

Julian Davies, Managing Director of Julian Barclay Ltd, started the year with an exceptional presentation on his journey from a scruffy teenager with a passion for trees begging a job from Lord Parker of Strutt and Parker fame, through a prestigious position with the Forestry Commission, to setting up his own Tree Surgery company which has grown and diversified through the past 6 years to include landscaping, fencing, snow clearing and much more.

The Suffolk Coast “BBC” is currently open to representatives of businesses within the postal regions of Aldeburgh, Saxmundham, Framlingham and Leiston, however the HCMTI, with support from Suffolk Coastal District Council, is in a period of growth and is inviting business leaders from further afield to get in touch with a view to joining. The majority of venues generously sponsor the meetings, allowing the £5 contribution for members and £10 for non members to be put towards administrative and organisational costs of the HCMTI, increasing sustainability.

The next ‘BBC’ meeting will be hosted by the new owners of The Bell at Sax (Saxmundham) on Valentine’s Day, Friday 14th February with a presentation entitled “All you need to know about media” by rapidly growing Framlingham based company …. About Media.

If you would like to attend, host or present at a meeting please contact HCMTI Project Coordinator Annette Mason-Gordon on [email protected] or by telephone on 0792 1508166.
