Halesworth Lions

WINGS and WHEELS

Cancelled due to Adverse Weather conditions

HENHAM PARK, HENHAM, SUFFOLK
SUNDAY 13th MAY 2012 10am-4pm
Wings and Wheels started several years ago when the Lions of Halesworth were asked to take over the Walpole Car Rally, and from then on it has become much bigger and better, with many more aircraft landing, and far more activities to interest all the family.

The event is always held on the second Sunday in May every year in Henham Park, just off the A12 and close to Halesworth and Southwold.

This year’s event will be supporting HELP FOR HEROES, for your entertainment we have;-

  • Planes and trains,
  • Cars and carnivores,
  • Dogs and daleks,
  • Bar and band,
  • Snakes and slides.

We try to bring something different to Wings and Wheels each year so along side the amazing flying display, hundreds of vintage and classic vehicles we have four life size talking and walking DALEKS, (www.charity-dalek.co.uk “Now also on Facebook”) keep your wits about you, as you never know quite where they will be!!

Also for the first time we have a live band TOUCHDOWN, playing throughout the day, they will be beside the bar, what better way to watch all that’s happening than listening to good music with a pint in your hand.

Dog lovers can watch the LOWESTOFT DOG AGILITY CLUB put their canine companions through their paces, or maybe Raptors and Snakes are more your style, come and meet them at the SEAL AND BIRD RESCUE TRUST display area.

The flying display hasn’t been confirmed yet, but there will be hundreds of small aircraft landing throughout the day,(in previous years we have landed more aircraft  in an hour than Heathrow and Gatwick),What better place to watch aircraft land and take off than the beautiful surroundings  of Henham Park.

If planes aren’t your cup of tea how about a miniature train ride with the HALESWORTH AND DISTRICT ENGINEERING CLUB, or just meander among the amazing variety of cars and other vehicles and find out about their history from the owners.

There’s only one place in East Anglia where you will find all three on the same day, plus much more

Henham Park is the ancestral home of the Rous Family (www.henhampark.com) which also hosts the annual Latitude Festival and Grand Henham Steam Rally.
Halesworth Lions is a small local Lions Club and all monies raised from this event goes to charity, and as you can image an event of this size takes a lot of financial outlay so if your company would be interesting in being part of this ever growing event and becoming a sponsor please contact us via www.halesworthlions.org.uk
