Carpets of Gold

The early days of spring through March and April herald the brilliant golden colours of daffodils in our gardens and public open spaces. The National Gardens Scheme in Norfolk has three gardens opening which will be displaying masses of these much loved traditional flowers.

On Sunday March 24 2013  Hindringham HallNR21 0QA has more than 30 different varieties of daffodils in swathes around a magnificent  Tudor manor house complete with moat.

The Conifers at Wreningham, NR16 1 AT opens on Easter Sunday March 31 and has drifts of daffodils and narcissi for you to wander through, plus many trees full of spring blossom.

Finally there is Bradenham Hall, IP25 7QP opening on Sunday April 21 where  daffodils and narcissi in the spacious lawns are a carpet of gold with much more to see in the extensive parkland and arboretum.

The money raised from NGS garden visitors helps to support some vital nursing and caring charities including Marie Curie Cancer Care, with the NGS its largest ever donor, having given £5.9m in total.

Marie Curie are running their 2013 Daffodil appeal during March and Community Fund Raising Manager Judith Hall said “All the money raised in this appeal will be used locally to increase the nursing service”
