PHOTOGRAPHS BY CHRIS PACKHAM FEATURE IN WATCHING SPRING, AN EXHIBITION AT WORLD LAND TRUST ART GALLERY

April 2015 Photographs by Chris Packham will be a special feature of Watching Spring, an exhibition opening at World Land Trust Art Gallery in Halesworth on 7 May.

Chris is passionate about photography. He told us: “Observing wildlife is an art in itself, and my photography is inspired by the many intimate details of wildlife that I have been privileged to witness.”

The exhibition will run in parallel with BBC2’s Springwatch, which returns to RSPB Minsmere on the Suffolk coast for a second year in May 2015. Chris is a Springwatch presenter and a Patron and long standing supporter of World Land Trust (WLT).

Chris said: “I’m delighted that this exhibition is happening at World Land Trust Art Gallery during the next series of Springwatch, when public attention will be focused on RSPB Minsmere and wildlife local to the reserve.”

Although best known as a TV presenter, Chris’s career started behind the camera. He trained as a wildlife film cameraman and is now one of the UK’s leading wildlife photographers. Anyone lucky enough to hear him talk about photography knows that he will stop at nothing to get the perfect picture.

Chris’s new book 100 Things That Caught My Eye will be on sale in the gallery during the exhibition.

Watching Spring will also feature original artwork by Dan Bradbury, Kate and Hannah Breach, Steve Cale, Robert Greenhalf, Amie Haslen, Sara Johnson, Andrew Pitt and photographer David Tipling. Much of the work on show has been produced specifically for this exhibition. All works are for sale.

world land trust

World Land Trust (WLT) is an international conservation charity, which protects the world’s most biologically important and threatened habitats acre by acre. Since its foundation in 1989, WLT has funded partner organisations around the world to create reserves, and give permanent protection to habitats and wildlife. The mission of the World Land Trust is: to protect and sustainably manage natural ecosystems of the world; to conserve their biodiversity, with emphasis on threatened habitats and endangered species; to develop partnerships with local individuals, communities and organisations to engage support and commitment among the people who live in project areas; to raise awareness, in the UK and elsewhere, of the need for conservation, to improve understanding and generate support through education, information and fundraising.

World Land Trust Art Gallery is a commercial gallery exhibiting wildlife and landscape art. The gallery is managed in partnership with the Wildlife Art Gallery, Lavenham. The gallery shop sells a range of original art and prints, books and greetings cards. All profits from
the art gallery support WLT’s conservation projects across the world.
