Community Art Exhibition: Wingfield Barns

Submissions  to  exhibit 2D work for the Community Art Exhibition at Wingfield Barns came flowing in over the past month  from amateur artists living in Mid Suffolk and South Norfolk.

A diverse range of drawings, paintings, reliefs and photographs were entered for selection.  The concept behind the exhibition is to offer amateur artists the opportunity to showcase their work in a professional gallery setting without submission or gallery hire fees.

Curator Rosemary Elliott was impressed with the quality of work submitted:  “Without doubt we have some very talented amateur artists living in in the region. In some cases amateur is the wrong label. I have to say that in this exhibition there are a number of both figurative and abstract artists who deserve a much wider audience. Their work could easily be classified as professional with a passion and skill that cries out for greater recognition. Wingfield Barns is keen to promote community initiatives such as this and as a result of the enthusiastic response to the open exhibition it is hoped that it will become a regular annual event in our programme.”

The exhibition opens in Gallery 1 on Saturday 28th March to 11th April 2015, Wednesdays to Sundays 11am-4pm.

In adjacent Gallery 2  Richard Digance’s ‘The Art Of Comedy’ can be seen at the same time.  Admission is free for both exhibitions.  Wingfield Barns car park is adjacent, next to Low Road and there is access and parking on site for disabled visitors.
