Cooking dems at Aylsham’s Farmers’ Markets

Living up to its reputation as a ‘FoodieĀ Town’, Aylsham’s Farmers’ Market will be staging a series of free cooking demonstrations featuring local chefs.

The demonstrations will run through the summer months, from May to September 2014, and will be in the Market Place where a marquee will house the chefs and their cooking equipment. Ingredients will of course be sourced from the wide range of local produce available on the Market and visitors will be invited to taste the finished products.

For the first event, on Saturday 3rd May 2014, popular local chef Derrol Waller will be on hand to demonstrate his skills and no doubt entertain Market customers with his renowned repartee. Derrol comments: “I am delighted to be asked to support the farmers market and look forward to using local produce and ingredients, so come along and join in sampling good tasty food, as it should be, with ourĀ free cookery demonstrations.”

All the events, running through until September, will coincide with the Farmers’ Markets on the first Saturday of each month. There is no charge and there will, of course, be the opportunity to taste the chefs’ creations.

Aylsham’s Farmers’ Markets, held on the first and third Saturdays of every month throughout the year, are accredited by the FARMA organisation.Ā Ā FARMA is a national co-operative ofĀ UKĀ farmers, small scale local producers and farmers’ market organisers. Aylsham has been a member of FARMA since 2004, the same year the town achieved its Cittaslow status.
