Crazy Golf Course opens in Norwich City Park

You can now try your hand at an 18-hole course in Eaton Park, every day throughout the summer.

The opening comes after an arduous (and often wet) 7-month development period – which has seen some unused bowling greens transformed into a variety of easy and more challenging holes, designed to entertain people of all ages. The course has been built around a central seating area, which is wheelchair-accessible.

The designer and builder, Robert Trown, has paid particular attention to the ambience in this Heritage Park, and created an attraction that fits neatly and unobtrusively into the surroundings. This is a high profile location, as the City Council are currently seeking the prestigious Green Flag status for the park.

Mr Trown is delighted to have completed the build in time for the school Easter holidays. The course will be open daily from 10.00 a.m. until sundown, with the last ticket sold 45 minutes before sundown.

You will find Eaton Park Crazy Golf close to the large car park which lies at the top end of South Park Drive, nearest to the Farmhouse pub at the Colman Road junction.

Notes

At 80 acres, Eaton Park is the largest of Norwich City’s historic parks.

The earliest documented mention of a minigolf course anywhere, is in ‘The Illustrated London News’ published 102 years ago.

Approximately 350 tons of earth, gravel and concrete were moved by hand to create the attraction.

This is the only crazy golf course within the City of Norwich, and the only one which is easily reachable by public transport from the centre of the City. Until this year, enthusiasts would need to travel as far as the Norfolk Broads or Yarmouth for the popular sport.

The location is just over a mile from the UEA campus.

There is no lower or upper age limit for playing the sport.

Mr Trown will be developing a 9-hole putting green on a third unused bowling green (adjacent) later in the summer.

Full information on prices and opening times is available at www.eatonparkcrazygolf.co.uk.
