Children from across Norfolk enjoyed being able to draw their favourite fruit or vegetable on the pavement at Anglia Square Shopping Centre in Norwich yesterday.

The North City Health Visiting Team from Norfolk Community Health and Care NHS Trust hosted the event to engage families with a fun activity while explaining the benefits of joining the change4life programme.

Change4life is a national project which aims to help families eat well and stay healthy. It’s free to sign up and once registered families will receive regular information including recipes, offers and ideas about how to eat well and be active.

Artwork provided by local pre-schools displaying pictures of children’s favourite fruit and vegetables was displayed around the shopping centre.

North City Health Visiting Team Leader, Carolyn Cain, said: “We all know how important it is to lead a healthy and active life and it was wonderful to see so many families participate in the event.

“Children especially liked the opportunity to be able to draw their favourite fruit or vegetable on the pavement. This was designed to educate and develop imagination and creativity as well as developing skills and dexterity.

“We also provided information on local play areas and events to get involved in during the school holidays as children benefit most from having a wide range play experiences.”

The event is just one of a number of initiatives to promote healthy lifestyles and to encourage families to sign up for the Change4life programme.
