Enjoy better sex by keeping fit

Keeping fit can make sex even better – and better sex can make you fitter – that’s just one of the benefits of living a healthy and active lifestyle.

Too many men are taking too little exercise and so, during Men’s Health Week (14 – 20 June) Healthy Ambitions Suffolk is supporting the national campaign to get men up off the sofa and walking, gardening, swimming, jogging – in short, moving more.

Physical activity has a huge range of benefits including reducing stress and anxiety, helping keep weight down, reducing the risk of heart disease as well as increasing sexual performance.

And, when it comes to activity the message is clear – exercise need not be too difficult or too long. Just 30 minutes, five days a week, can hugely improve men’s health and wellbeing.

Peter Bradley, NHS Suffolk’s director of public health, said: “Keeping active can provide enormous health benefits, as well as making us feel better. It can make sex that bit more fun.

“Exercise needn’t involve going to the gym or joining an expensive sports club – simply doing some walking, gardening or DIY contributes to the recommended 30 minutes of exercise a day.”

Facts on Suffolk health:

– 80% of men aged over 45 are either overweight or obese
– More than 2,000 people die prematurely (aged under 75)
– The main causes of death are cancer, heart disease and stroke
