FAMILY FUN TO FEED THE BIRDS AT RSPB MINSMERE

Families visiting RSPB Minsmere nature reserve during the October half term can have fun getting mucky making bird cake and feeders to take home for their own gardens.

The make a bird feeder and craft activities days run from 11 am to 3 pm from Monday 25 to Saturday 30 October. As well as making bird feeders and bird cake, there will be a variety of different craft activities on offer, and a simple quiz to complete each day.

RSPB Minsmere Volunteer Development Officer, Louise Gregory, said, “As autumn’s fabulous colours give way to winter’s chill evenings, birds will soon be flocking back to gardens in search of tasty titbits. We know how much entertainment garden birds can provide, and even more so if they use feeders that you’ve made yourself.

“It’s RSPB Feed the Birds Day on 30 October, when we ask people to prepare for winter by cleaning and restocking their feeders ready for the winter. Why not encourage the kids to make some feeders of their own this year? It’s great fun.”

All materials are provided within the event charge of £4 per child, or £2.50 for RSPB Wildlife Explorers. Normal reserve entry fees apply to adults, and all children must be accompanied.
