Bungay Film

It was wonderful to see the Fisher crammed to the gills for LOVE AND FRIENDSHIP last Monday.  Many thanks to you all for bearing with the false start and for continuing to support the club with such good humour and enthusiasm.  We’ll be back at the end of the month with JULIETA.  Meanwhile, The Fisher has Jungle delights in store…

13 February at 2.30 pm THE JUNGLE BOOK (PG)

This film will delight all fans of Kipling’s stories and the celebrated 1967 Walt Disney adaptation.  Old-fashioned storytelling meets hyperreal digital animation in this faithful remake which loses the songs but brings new, ingenious twists on the story about the ‘man-cub’, Mowgli, brought up by wolves in the jungle.  USA 2016.  106 minutes.

All Fisher Theatre Cinema seats £5.  Apologies, no reductions for film club members.

  27 February at 7.30 pm JULIETA (15).

Directed by Pedro Almodovar. Spain 2016. 99 mins. In Spanish with English subtitles.

After an unexpected encounter in Madrid, Julieta discovers that the daughter she has not seen for decades is a mother herself and living happily abroad.  Julieta abandons her plans and begins to reflect on her past. This unconventional mystery told in flashback and based on three Alice Munro stories is anchored by exceptional performances from both actresses playing the title character.  JULIETA marks a welcome return to form for the popular Spanish director.

‘Almodovar’s magnificent new film is a swirling family melodrama, full of reversals, flashbacks and jarring plot twists.’  Geoffrey Macnab in The Independent.
