your wellbeing in mind

Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust will be holding a free one-day conference at Trinity Park, Ipswich on 14 February 2013, 10am-4pm, to launch its spiritual strategy.

The conference will focus on spirituality and mental wellbeing and will include keynote speaker, Ben Bano, from the National Spirituality and Mental Health forum and opportunities to join in two interactive workshops.

The first workshop will look at how spirituality can be incorporated into assessment and care planning for people who have mental health problems and the second will explore how the wider community, including faith communities, can support members with mental health needs.

The day will be opened by Aidan Thomas, chief executive of the Trust and will also feature a talk from non-executive director, Barry Capon about the importance of person-centred care.

The Trust will be taking part in the national NHS Change Day on March 13 – a call to action for 65,000 people across the country to do something better together. As part of its involvement in NHS Change Day, the Trust we will be asking conference goers to make a Change Day Pledge for March 13 to improve services for people with mental health issues.

Bill Bazely, The Trust’s senior Chaplain, who has helped organise the event said: “In autumn 2012, we asked people who use our services and local people who care about mental wellbeing to help us decide how to develop our spirituality and pastoral care support.

“We had a tremendous response and now we’re coming back with our plans for the next three years. This is an opportunity for people to help shape the implementation of our plans and it promises to be an excellent day.”

Lunch and refreshments are provided but places are limited, therefore booking is essential. If anyone would like to attend they can apply for a place online at www.surveymonkey.com/s/spirituality_registration or call Lynne Wilkins on 01603 421425. We will then get back in touch with further details.
