GET CLOSE TO NATURE FOR
A GUILT-FREE CHRISTMAS

Are you stuck for an idea for a Christmas gift? Do you or your loved ones love nature? Would you like to escape the high street crowds? We’ve got just the event for you at RSPB Minsmere nature reserve with our annual Minsmere Christmas Fair.

The Christmas Fair, on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 November 2010, offers something for the whole family. Children can join in with an exciting snowman quiz trail or make apple birdfeeders. For adults, there’s expert advice on choosing bird food and feeders to attract birds to their garden or selecting ethically-made, wildlife-inspired Christmas presents. There’s also a selection of local craft stalls offering jewellery, cookies and bird photos.

RSPB Minsmere Retail Manager, Heather Carroll, said: “Winter is a fantastic time to visit Minsmere. Huge flocks of ducks crowd onto the marshes and it’s great to simply sit and listen to the wind whistling through the reeds or waves crashing onto the shingle beach. Why not come along to enjoy this natural spectacle, and take time out from the hassle of the high street.

“Our expert staff and volunteers will help you to choose the right bird food or binoculars for your loved ones. Treat yourself to our wickedly-tasty, ethically-made chocolate or spoil yourself with our superb range of palm-oil-free Skinny Dipper toiletries.

“Perhaps you’d like a gift with a difference. If so, try gift membership or our popular virtual Good Natured Gifts. We’ll even wrap your carefully chosen gifts for you. And don’t forget, 100% of the profits go back to nature conservation.”

The Christmas Fair runs from 10 am to 4 pm on both days. There are no extra charges for activities, but normal entry fees apply.

Minsmere’s festive events programme continues with carol singing in the visitor centre on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 November, the Wildlife Explorers Christmas party on Saturday 4 December, and a book signing by children’s wildlife author David Chandler, also on 4 December.
