Norwich-Ambassador

If the usual New Year resolutions to exercise more and eat healthy are not for you, then why not think about sharing your love of Norwich and taking the time to help a confused visitor instead? Norwich’s Heritage Economic and Regeneration Trust (HEART), in conjunction with VisitNorwich Ltd., are looking for people that are passionate about Norwich and its cultural heritage to join the Norwich Ambassadors Scheme and help spread the word about our fine city.

The Norwich Ambassador Scheme is designed for any frontline staff, such as taxi drivers, hotel receptionists and venue assistants, as well as being suitable for any individual who wants to learn more about what Norwich has to offer, and its stunning heritage.

HEART and VisitNorwich have announced the 2014 sessions of the hugely popular Norwich Ambassador Scheme courses, which have seen over 300 trained through the scheme. If you would like to be a Norwich ambassador, the next course is on Thursday 30th January (2pm-4.30pm) at The Guildhall. Places are limited and on a first come, first served basis, but there are still places left for people who want to help champion the city.

The sessions are interactive and provide an overview of Norwich’s tourism industry, its cultural heritage as well as current events and festivals. Participants will receive refreshments, Norwich Ambassador badge, window sticker, certificate and a delegate pack to take away with useful general information about Norwich and the iconic Norwich 12 buildings. Trained delegates also receive free passes and money-off at some of Norwich’s key attractions and benefit from an exclusive series of Ambassador+ events and talks.

The Ambassador Scheme formed part of HEART’s SHAPING 24 project until 2013, a cultural heritage and tourism initiative that took forward the Norwich 12 project with the Belgian city of Ghent. Due to the huge success of the Norwich Ambassador Scheme, with over 300 people trained, HEART have decided to continue the sessions to encourage more people to champion their fine city.

Prices per person (inc. VAT) are £50 for commercial companies, £37 for charities / small businesses (10 staff or less) and £25 for individuals. Please note that unfortunately the Guildhall is not accessible for wheelchair users. Further sessions take place on Wednesday 26th March, Thursday 29th May and Wednesday 24th September.

Michael Loveday, Chief Executive of HEART, said: ““Norwich has internationally renowned cultural heritage resources as well as excellent shopping, entertainment, leisure pursuits and events. We have been massively impressed by the pride and enthusiasm exhibited so far by people attending these courses and have been delighted that the Ambassadors focus that passion into sharing the ‘Norwich product’ to the visiting public. We would encourage anyone with an interest and pride in Norwich to join the Scheme, explore Norwich’s hidden gems and share their knowledge to inspire others.”

Places for the Norwich Ambassador Scheme are limited and are allocated on a first come first served basis. To book, please contact Madeleine Coupe on [email protected] or 01603 559570 – please state which date you are interested in.
