Rehearsals are now in their final stages for Beccles based, Waveney Light

Opera Group’s autumn show, the classic Broadway musical ‘Guys and Dolls’.

This continues WLOG’s recent trend of staging more contemporary shows in

the spring and a classic musical in the autumn.

The show is shaping up to be another huge success for WLOG. It tells the

tale of Sergeant Sarah Brown, of the Save a Soul Mission, who is vainly

trying to spread the Word of the Lord in the sin-filled streets of New

York; Adelaide, the showgirl, desperate to settle down with her reluctant

fiancé Nathan Detroit, who is trying to find yet another new location for

his floating dice game; and the coolest, high roller of them all, Sky

Masterson, who would bet on anything that would turn him a profit.

The musical premiered on Broadway in 1950, winning five Tony Awards and

features the unforgettable numbers Luck Be A Lady, If I Were A Bell, A

Bushel And A Peck and Sit Down You’re Rockin’ The Boat. The 1955 Film

version featured Frank Sinatra and Marlon Brando in the starring roles.

The show will be performed inBeccles Public Hall between the 19th and
