ART AND THE SEA FAMILY DAY

Sunday 23 October, 1-4pm
Free, drop-in anytime

Join us for a celebration of art and the sea, with live performance, music and creative activities inspired by coastal cultures and landscapes.

During the day you can:

  • Join artist Georgie Manly to make costumes inspired by the sea
  • Take a close look at the Fijian canoe before creating your own magical vehicle to travel through the gallery with artist Theo Lecrinier
  • In the studio, add your own designs to a large scale print, referencing the patterns and decorations of Fijian barkcloth with artist Kate Munro
  • Listen to live music from a Fijian Choir and see the famous Fijian Bula Dance

This half-term we are focusing on islands and coastlines and wind and water as part of our Art and the Sea programme.

Children’s Holiday Studio gives your child the opportunity to develop their skills and explore materials and techniques with a practising artist. Each session includes artist-led activity in the studio and creative looking and learning about objects and artworks in the galleries.

Islands and Coastlines with artist Kaitlin Ferguson 
26 October: suitable for 5-7 year-olds (children must be accompanied)

Wind and Water with artist Ian Brownlie 
27 October: suitable for 8-12-year-olds
