The summer holidays might be over but the garden visiting season is not over yet. September heralds the golden colours of autumn and the National Gardens Scheme in Norfolk has several gardens open that will surely tempt you to visit.

On September 6th Daisy Cottage at Roughton is a 2 acre wildlife haven with mixed borders full of autumn colour plus a more formal Japanese style garden.

On the same day is the tranquil garden of Hunworth Hall near Melton Constable, recreated in the 18th Century Anglo-Dutch with its formal lawns, canals and pavillions and amazing topiary. There is also a kitchen garden.

High House Gardens at Shipdham opens not only on the 13th but also on 16th September and is a true plantsman’s garden with borders full of late season interest.

On the 20th September Shorelands Wildlife Gardens at Langmere near Diss is the ideal place to take children to see the roaming animals including flocks of cranes and marmoset monkeys!

All the gardens will be providing delicious homemade teas and your visit while being a pleasurable experience will also benefit the nursing and caring charities supported by the NGS.
