Could you be my bus buddy?

Could you…

Volunteer to run regular bus services between Laxfield, Peasenhall and Halesworth?

Help someone by collecting shopping or bringing library books on the bus?

Give people information about public transport, local services, social events and activities?

Assist passengers like bus conductors used to?

The Handy Bus Club is a pilot community minibus project operated by Suffolk ACRE between Sibton, Peasenhall and Halesworth.

Since the funding axe fell on public transport, many people have asked the Handy Bus to come to Laxfield and to continue in Peasenhall after the pilot has finished. To achieve this, it needs enough volunteers to be a ‘Bus Buddy’ (who travel free) and help with running the club as a charity.

You only need to give an hour a month to help others and keep Laxfield and Peasenhall and nearby communities viable places to live, work and do business. When people are unable to access transport, they face isolation and deprivation and that costs our society more in the long run. A Handy Bus Club is a simple and cost-efficient community-led solution.

If you would like a Handy Bus Club to serve rural areas and can help with running it, please get in touch without delay. Only with enough people involved can the Handy Bus Club serve Laxfield and Peasenhall with three runs a day on Monday & Wednesday, enabling two or four hours for shopping or appointments in Halesworth. Much work has to be done before present operations cease on March 30th. Please spread the word and follow our progress at http://handybus.blogspot.com
