Priscilla Bacon Hospice

The Priscilla Bacon Hospice shop is asking for volunteers to help run its new store in Aylsham.

The shop on Red Lion Street in Aylsham, the second for the charity, is looking for people to put their spare time and talent to good use by volunteering.

The charity was launched in 2016 to support the development of palliative care services in Norfolk. Its first charity shop, and the first ever pop up shop of its style in Norfolk, opened last year in Drayton and the store in Aylsham, opening on 20th March, will be its first permanent store and the second one in the chain, for the charity.

Rosemary Fereday, Priscilla Bacon Hospice Head of Retail, is keen to recruit a number of volunteers in a wide range of roles, from sorting stock and preparing it for sale; to helping customers and arranging displays. Volunteering at the Priscilla Bacon Hospice Charity shop is a valuable way of gaining work experience for those seeking employment or simply for someone with a few hours a week to spare. All volunteers will receive training and will work under the guidance of a shop manager.

Shop manager Janet said: “Volunteers are integral to the running and success of our charity shop so we are looking for people to join our team and open our first static charity shop in Aylsham. It’s an exciting opportunity to be a part of a charity that will make a difference to local people.”

“The wide range of roles available means there’s something to suit everyone, from working on the sales floor to window-dressing, or preparing and pricing stock.”

“Volunteering for your local charity shop for four hours a week or more is a great way of developing your experience and skills, making new friends and making a real difference to the community.”

The charity shop will be open Monday – Saturday 9am – 5pm. Each shift will be a minimum of four hours. The store is opened 20th March.
