The iconic ‘A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE’ introduces to the stage two of the most powerful and charismatic characters Tennessee Williams ever invented, Blanche Dubois  and Stanley Kowalski.

‘Streetcar’ is simply gripping drama with unexpected lightning bolts of humour and moments of heart-wrenching tenderness.

Set in sultry New Orleans and played out against the background rattle of the streetcars and the beat of the jazz-bands, this is a play fraught with social and sexual tensions as Stanley, recently returned from fighting in the 2nd World War, now fights to make his way in the world and also to deal with his feelings for his wife’s sexually predatory sister, who has unexpectedly come to stay.

He hates her and yet desires her.  Why has she come and how will his conflicting emotions affect his relationship with his adored wife, Stella?

This potentially explosive situation and its heart-rending outcome will grip you from beginning to end.

Directed by Jude Wyatt, with the stage set designed by James and Alison Utting, the show stars Iscah Montgomerie (Blanche), Rob Tiffen (Stanley) and Tamsin Stevenson (Stella).
