The Trust which operates the Marina Theatre has announced that Lowestoft’s big family pantomime Cinderella proved an enormous success, with the production over 25% up on the previous year.

Cinderella, which ran at the Edwardian venue from December to January and starred former Coronation Street and Carry On actress Amanda Barrie, outrageous Ugly Sisters, Lav & Lou & comedian Mike Newman Jnr, was one of the most successful events at the Marina in the past eight years, and following its huge success theatre bosses have announced that this December’s pantomime will be another family favourite, Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs, once again staged in association with award winning producers Paul Holman Associates.

Martin Halliday, Chief executive for the Marina Theatre Trust said, “We were absolutely thrilled with the response to our pantomime, Cinderella, The production had a brilliant cast lead by Amanda Barrie and was packed full of music and comedy. The show proved hugely popular with our audiences – with the production over 25% up on the preceding year. We have already been inundated with enquiries for this year’s pantomime, therefore we are delighted to confirm we will be presenting another family favourite, Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs from December 16 and once again the show will be produced in partnership with Paul Holman Associates.”

Full casting is yet to be confirmed for the production, however seats are now available to book, with ticket prices being held at the same rates as last year. This will be the fifth pantomime production at the Marina for the producers, building upon their successful and established track record in producing pantomimes across the UK. Both the company and Marina Theatre Trust are keen to keep traditional family entertainment alive and vibrant in Lowestoft.

Paul Holman said: “We are delighted that our production of Cinderella proved such a huge success and equally pleased to have been invited to present the Marina’s traditional pantomime for a fifth successive year. We’re looking forward to playing to audiences both young and old with a great family production featuring a fine cast, spectacular costumes, stunning scenery and good old fashioned slapstick. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is going to be an action packed show, exciting, fresh and full of family fun.”

This year’s pantomime will run from December 16 through until January 3 and will once again include performances throughout the Christmas and New Year holiday. Ticket prices have been held at last year’s rates and start from just £7.00, with generous group discounts available for parties and schools. In addition, a special early bird booking rate has been introduced for those purchasing seats between now and the end of March.
