Manners Maketh Man

Beccles Library Community Trust are hosting an historical talk and quiz at the library on Thursday 21 January at 7pm.

Are you an oaf or a charmer? Do you know your napkins from your serviettes, your white tie from your black tie, or how to address the queen? And did you know that medieval Beccles was the birthplace of possibly the most courteous man in the country at the time?

All these questions and many more will be answered at this event, to be introduced with a talk by Anne Frith, editor of ‘Daniel of Beccles, The Book of the Civilized Man’. A quiz and light-hearted romp through 900 years of advice on etiquette will follow – to ensure that you never again commit frightening faux-pas, bewildering blunders or ghastly gaffes.
