DYNAMIC SUPPORT FOR MEN’S 1STS

I am delighted to announce that the Men’s 1st team will be sponsored in the forthcoming season by Dynamic Sports Clothing and Equipment Ltd who are based in Hethersett near Norwich. They succeed Hunton Legg (R.G.) Ltd who kindly sponsored the team for five years. The club has worked closely with Steve Rudd of Dynamic Sports for a number of years and we are grateful to him for his very welcome support. As already announced Dynamic Sports will also be running our Online Club Shop with effect from 1 September.  From that date please see the link on the Home Page of the club’s website.

Congratulations and best wishes to:

a) Leigh Sitch and Katrina Warnes on their wedding on Saturday 3 August when the team of best men were Peter Thornett, Richard Hobley and Andrew Bedwell.

b) Ellie and Peter Bale on the recent birth of Henry. He is unlikely to know for some time that he attended Leigh and Katrina’s wedding!

c) Iain Cumming on his appointment as clubhouse bar steward.

Membership Forms

As you will be aware these have been issued (on the extensive Musings distribution) and subscription and training fees are due on 1 September. Members not completing and returning a form will be hearing from the treasurer. You have been warned! No member is too well known to escape this simple task!

Training times

Are you a playing member? If so have you been to training yet? Please see the website for start dates and times.

2013-14 Handbook

An on-line version (pdf) is available on the website giving, as you would expect, details of all fixtures for the forthcoming season plus a lot of other vital information. Members will receive a printed copy on payment of their sub and training fee (if appropriate). NB. Club Day is on Saturday 7 September (ladies in the morning with gentlemen in the afternoon.)

Other news

a) Well done to Murray Graham (Chairman), Bertie Steggles (Publicity Officer) and Toby Price (1st team and England U16s) who were interviewed on BBC Radio Norfolk last Saturday afternoon about the club and the wider hockey scene.

b) Good luck to the England Men’s and Women’s teams in the EuroHockey Championships which begin on Saturday in Boom (Belgium).

c) Thanks are due to the following members for their help at the club in recent weeks – George Hunter (grass cutting), Ewie Cumming and Charlie Graham (strimming) and Quentin Baynes, Richard Larkin, Charlie Graham. James Graham, Tom Graham and Andy Johnson (painting of railings, etc.). Richard summed up the fun of the latter job when he said – seeing the amount of paint on the grass – that it was a surprise we had also managed to apply some to the woodwork!

d) The Golf Day raised a record £1898 for club funds. So it is a big ‘thank you’ to our hosts Bungay GC, to the 29 competing teams and to the club members who helped to run the event on the day.

e) Since the printing of the handbook the Men’s 7ths home game against Holt Harlequins 2 has been switched from March 22 to December 14 (3.15 sand).

f) A level 1 Coaching Award course (with 20 available places) is being held at the UEA on September 26, September 29 and October 6. Registration and payment is via the England Hockey website with a closing date of 31 August.

Musings will be back on a regular weekly basis from early September.
