BUNGAY FILM CLUB

It was wonderful to see so many of you for JULIETA last Monday.

I hope that you will keep 27 March free for our screening of MUSTANG (15),which is an unforgettable – and unmissable – film.

MUSTANG (15) on Monday 27 March 2017 at 7.30 pm.

Directed by Deniz Gamze Erguven.  Turkey/France 2015.  97 minutes.  In Turkish with English subtitles.

It is early summer in Northern Turkey.  When five orphaned sisters are seen innocently playing with boys on a beach, their scandalised relatives confine them to the house.  All phones are confiscated and the house becomes a ‘wife factory’ to prepare the girls for marriage.  MUSTANG is raw, funny and very moving and was nominated for both Oscar and BAFTA awards for best foreign film.

‘A powerful, uplifting portrait of defiance.’  Tristram Fane Saunders in the Telegraph.
