To celebrate the 20th year of the gardens at Severals Grange in Wood Norton a major new planting area will be officially opened at 3pm on Sunday 12th August 2012 by Thordis Fridriksson, host of BBC Radio Norfolk’s Saturday Garden Party programme.

This new area has been under development for 2 years and has swathes of interlocking grasses and perennials giving a colourful and naturalistic look to the garden.

Garden owner Jane Lister said “We are delighted that Thordis has kindly agreed to open the new garden as part of our annual event for the National Gardens Scheme charities which we have been pleased to support for the last ten years”

The gardens will be open from 2-5pm on August 12th with admission £3 and children free. Homemade teas will be served and a wide range of plants are for sale from the adjacent nursery.

The gardens surrounding Severals Grange and the adjoining nursery Hoecroft Plants are a perfect example of how colour, shape and form can be created by the use of foliage plants, from large shrubs to small alpines. Movement and lightness is achieved by interspersing these plants with a wide range of ornamental grasses, which are at their best in late summer.

The full details of all the gardens opening for the NGS can be found in the Norfolk Gardens 2012 booklet which is available in Libraries, TICs, garden centres and nurseries. Information is also available on www.ngs.org.uk
