DIZZY O’DARE’S RISE

The Drill House, Great Yarmouth

Saturday 21 October, 7.30pm (Doors 6.45pm)

A new circus theatre show created in Great Yarmouth makes its debut to local audiences on Saturday 21 October.

Rise is the latest creation from Dizzy O’Dare.  The show was created at The Drill House in Great Yarmouth and produced by SeaChange Arts who are based at the venue.

Dizzy O’Dare is made up of partners, Mike Imerson and Alana Jones and the show brings together tight wire, live music, theatre and comedy in a touching performance about the complexity of relationships.

At times, semi-autobiographical, Rise is a light-hearted exploration of Mike and Alana’s own experiences of working as performers and living together as a couple.

Mike and Alana relocated to Norfolk from Kent, to work closely with SeaChange at The Drill House to develop both their work and the programme of activities at the venue.

The show is presented by the Coaster Touring Network, a SeaChange led partnership that aims to support cultural economies of seaside towns by touring world class circus and street arts shows.  It completes a six date national tour when it comes to Great Yarmouth.

As part of the creation process for the show, Dizzy O’Dare worked with around 20 local young people on clowning and tight wire workshops and provide free work-in-progress showings to local audiences.

“It’s really exciting to close the tour of Rise in Great Yarmouth,” said Alana Jones. “We feel as though local people have been involved with the process from the very beginning and to perform the finished show back at The Drill House will be a great experience.”

Rise takes place at The Drill House on Saturday 21 October at 7.30pm. Tickets are pay-what-you-can from £3 to £12 and are available at www.seachangearts.org.uk
