Members of the public are invited to an interactive evening this month to find out about Norfolk’s wellbeing services for young people.

The event, which is being hosted by Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust’s children and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS) will be held at Open, in Norwich on from 6:30pm to 8:30pm on Thursday 29 March 2012. It is part of a wider programme of events to celebrate the public launch of the Trust after its inception back in January <2012>.

The evening will have a mix of interactive activities along with information stands and experts on hand to provide advice. Special guest for the evening is young theatre producer Joe Ballard, who sits on the London 2012 Opening Ceremony Committee. He will lead drama workshops and talk about how young people can engage with this year’s sporting events.

The exciting event will also include live music performances from service user band Head Room, and Access to Music graduate Phoebe York. There will also be an interactive poetry corner.

Andy Goff, CAMHS service manager for development, said: “The evening is primarily a wellbeing event, but it will also celebrate, and recruit to, the Trust’s Youth Council as well as looking at our plans for future developments. The Youth Council is a group of children and young people that work alongside us as we develop services. They also represent service users on interview panels when people apply for jobs in the CAMHS team.”

The event comes after the government pledged £22 million to develop psychological therapies for young people at the end of last month . The Trust is already developing its own children’s services after hosting a joint-working conference in Suffolk, and has put plans in place to provide inpatient facilities for young people in the area.
