The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital will be opening its doors to the public from 11am to 4pm on Saturday 20th June 2015 for its open day and fete.

Visitors will be able to see what goes on behind the scenes at the hospital, browse the fete stalls for cakes and crafts, enjoy the live music, or look around the careers fair. There will be free entry and free car parking on the day with any funds raised from the event going to the hospital’s charity

John Fry, NNUH Chairman said: “We would like to showcase some of the excellent work that goes on within the hospital and give the public a chance to see areas that would not usually be open to them. We will also be running a hospital fete alongside the open day in aid of our Hospital Charity.”

Key attractions at the open day include finding out what goes on in an operating theatre, visiting the labs, making a plaster mould of your hand, meeting Fred the Pharmacy robot, taking part in traditional fete games or taking your teddy for an X-ray before joining Big C’s teddy bears’ picnic.

Louise Cook, NNUH Fundraising Manager said; “We love opening our doors to the public so people can see what good work goes on at the hospital. There will be something for every family member from activities for the children to enjoy or information for those looking to begin a career in healthcare.”

Career opportunities to be showcased at NNUH Open Day and Fete

The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH) will be holding a careers fair showcasing nursing and other healthcare service roles, as part of its Open Day and Fete from 11am to 4pm on Saturday 20th June 2015. Entry to the event and car parking are free.

The careers fair will showcase the many different occupations available at the NNUH and enable visitors to talk to healthcare professionals and find out more about the options which might suit them.

There will be a big focus on nursing within an acute setting and a chance for those thinking of returning to nursing to come and talk to nurses first hand. There will also be a chance for registered nurses to find out what professional development is available to support the move into nursing in an acute setting.

Emma McKay, Director of Nursing at the NNUH said “This is an excellent opportunity for registered nurses or those thinking of returning to nursing to come and discuss the career and development opportunities available with us, as well as a chance to see behind the scenes at the region’s busiest hospital.”

There will also be information about apprenticeships at the NNUH and information on other health service professions such as physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, dietetics, occupational therapy, diagnostic radiotherapy, radiography, plus administrative and support services. There will also be information about the different volunteering roles at NNUH and experienced workers can also find out more about temporary placements from the hospital’s Staff Bank.
