Different but Better Together Art Exhibition
Children from schools in the Norwich Central cluster have created a sculpture which is being exhibited at The Forum.
The sculpture was created by groups of children working together on a special art day which took place at Colman Junior School in June. The sculpture, comprising of 20 individual pieces which slot together, is deliberately designed to look different every time it’s reconstructed, just as every collaborative learning experience leads to a unique outcome.
The exhibition title ‘Different but Better Together’ was selected to celebrate what can be achieved when groups of schools, all with differing strengths, are given a chance to exercise creativity together.
The Norwich Central cluster currently includes the following schools: Avenue Junior School, City of Norwich School, Clare School, Colman Infant School, Colman Junior School, Eaton Hall Specialist Academy, Eaton Primary School, Parkside School and Recreation Road Infant School

Different but Better Together Art Exhibition
This year will see the first Art Academy East Summer Exhibition in Norwich. This will be a mixed show with work by students at all levels and be a chance for the public to see the talent emerging from Mid Norfolk’s premier art education centre.
There will be coursework on show in the form of City and Guilds Diploma portfolios as well as finished fine art pieces for sale created by staff and students. A great opportunity to find out about artistic learning opportunities as well as view and buy artwork by emerging and established artists.
This year sees Art Academy East opening its doors to school leavers to undertake formal qualifications in art, accredited by College of West Anglia.
Local professional artist and founder Claire Frances Smith says: “In the past year the school has grown immensely in terms of learner numbers and success rates. We have people from 9 to 90 undertaking courses and have something for people on every level. We promote traditional painting skills as well as mixed media, printing and design techniques. Come and judge for yourself!”
Staff will be on hand throughout the show to give more information and advice on courses available and funding options. Work will be for sale.
