Sat in his kitchen workshop, Sam Lacey makes terrible shoes and tries to sell them online. They are so bad that no-one really wants them, not even his neighbour (who thinks he should give up and get a real job!). Then one night, two tiny visitors climb in through the window and start cutting and stitching and gluing… and Sam’s life is never quite the same again!

An up-to-date, size 13½ retelling of everyone’s favourite story featuring stunning puppets, music and surprises aplenty. For everyone aged 3+

Adapted from the classic adventure novel by Antony Hope, and staged with the Common ground trademarks of theatrical inventiveness and original live music.

Rudolph Rassendyll is 29, and he’s done very little with his life. His fascination with the Ruritanian royal family (to which he is dubiously related after a scandalous affair involving his grandmother) impels him to visit Ruritania on the eve of the new king’s coronation. While walking in the forests around Zenda, he meets the king and his entourage. The king and he are physically identical and what follows as a result of this accident of birth will change Rudolph’s life forever, forcing him to choose between his moral duty and his heart…

Sex and The Village

Bury St Edmunds Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society present a new musical by susannah Pearse andrebecca Applin.

Sex and The Village is a classic mix of hilarity and poignancy – the Vicar of Dibley meets Jam and Jerusalem! The story is a hugely topical one – a village fighting in its own inimitable way to kill a supermarket giant’s plan to invade its peaceful space.

 

Chefs on Stage

Monday 11 November, 7.30pm

An unmissable event for any budding chef or food lover, join Régis Crépy (award winning suffolk based restaurateur) and his fabulous team of master chefs from Maison Bleue in Bury St Edmunds, The Great House in Lavenham and Mariners in Ipswich, for a live gourmet cookery demonstration with a difference.

This promises to be a lively evening and one which will inspire you in the build up to the festive and celebration season!

Albert Herring

Don’t miss this fantastic opportunity to enjoy Benjamin Britten’s classic comic depiction of village life in the year celebrating the centenary of his birth. One of the composer’s most perfect gems – witty and irreverent – this comedy opera is bound to bring a smile to your face…

Pride and Prejudice

Two actors, 21 characters, lots of laughs and one of the most romantic stories of all time. This production marks a return visit to the Theatre Royal of director Abigail Anderson, who brought you the acclaimed adaptation of Cider with Rosie, in addition to much-loved Shakespeare productions including Much Ado About nothing. You’ll also recognise the onstage talent of Joannah tincey and Nick Underwood. Re-united with designer Dora schweitzer (Cider With Rosie and Dick Turpin’s Last Ride) this familiar Theatre Royal team promises an inventive production sparkling with Austen’s wit and style.

This new production of an enchanting adventure beautifully told through the magic of dance will delight audiences young and old.

Aladdin

Holed away in widow Twankey’s laundry shop in Old Peking, young Aladdin spends his days up to his elbows in pants and petticoats, getting into scrapes and dreaming of the beautiful Princess Jasmine. But his luck might be about to change, when he meets the mysterious Abanazar and learns of a lamp that grants three magical wishes…We are very excited to welcome the return of James Nickerson as Widow Twankey.
