Pensthorpe Mediaeval Spectacular Archer

Pensthorpe Mediaeval Spectacular 2014

Pensthorpe Natural Park is celebrating its own historic landmark event when its popular Mediaeval Spectacular returns for its 10th year between 23rd and 25th August 2014.

Running throughout the August Bank Holiday weekend from 10am to 5pm, visitors can enjoy a rare taste of Mediaeval life.

Living history encampments will transport visitors back in time with Minstrels, jousting, a barber surgeon – not for the faint hearted – puppet show and a Mediaeval market among the highlights.

Visitors will have the opportunity to meet characters from the past such as the Archer, the Alchemist, Falconer and Nun. Plus watch axe-wielding warriors in action and superb real jousting competitions take place before your very eyes.

Pensthorpe Mediaeval Spectacular Alchemist

There will be live period music from our Minstrels and a succulent hog roast delivering an authentic taste of Mediaeval life, plus lots of interaction with our medieval characters.

Mark Noble, Commercial Manager at Pensthorpe Natural Park, comments: “It’s no surprise that our Mediaeval Spectacular has passed the test of time to remain one of our most popular weekends of the year. We’re delighted it’s back for its tenth year – we hope that lots of families looking for an educational but seriously captivating day out will come to meet some of the heroes and heroines of our past.”

Falconer

Ian Pycroft from Black Knight Historical, co-organisers of the event, comments: “We will be bringing the beautiful nature reserve to life with hundreds of medieval characters and activities for all to enjoy. Visitors will find themselves witnessing the pageantry of the joust, an archery competition, the search for the Philosophers stone, a fishing village with coracles, beautiful birds of prey in flight, dancing with the Minstrels, heckling at the puppet show, seeing period crafts being worked, extreme knightly combat and much more. We have many visitors who return every year to see what we can come up with next, and they will still be here at the end wanting more!”
