Rainbow Flag Flying At Norfolk And Waveney Mental Health Foundation Trust

Norfolk and Waveney Mental Health NHS

Norfolk and Waveney Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust is flying the rainbow flag to mark Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) History Month. The flag – which is flying at Hellesdon Hospital, in Norwich – is the international symbol of LGBT pride.

LGBT staff representative George Pearce, and Norfolk and Waveney Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust chair Maggie Wheeler, following the hoisting of the rainbow flag at Hellesdon Hospital.

The month commemorates the achievements of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people, and seeks to overcome homophobic bullying and negative discrimination – which if unchecked can lead to higher levels of anxiety, depression, self-harm and suicidal feelings than among the heterosexual population.
