BECCLES ROSE MAY FETE 2014

After a very successful year in 2013 we are very pleased to announce that Beccles Rose May Fete will be taking place again this year on Bank Holiday Monday May 5th at Ringsfield Village Hall Grounds between 10am and 5pm.

We are currently still accepting craft, Promotion, Charity Stalls, and children’s rides for the event if you would like to book a stall please email [email protected] or phone Denise on 01986 894831

As it was very popular last year we will be yet again having a Carboot sale the cost will be £5 per car, and £7 per van. If you are a trade stall and would like to attend it will be the same price as a standard stall, if you require any other information on this please phone Denise on 01986 894831.

This year we have some amazing sponsors for this year’s event our main sponsor is Moore Music Roadshow who will be doing our PA system and making sure this event runs as smoothly as possible.

This year’s fun filled day for all the family is to be kicked off at 10am with Hayley Chambers who will be singing and playing the guitar. She has recently appeared in Beccles Rising stars production of Les Miserable.

The Rose May Fete organisers will be holding a Bonnie Baby competition which will be taking place at 10.20am which has kindly been sponsored by Klash Photography in Lowestoft who has giving us some amazing prizes for our winners and runners up. Age groups will be 0-6 months, 6-12 months, 12-18 months, and 18-34 months. Registration for this event will take place from 10am.

At 11.20 taking centre stage will be a local band The Intent who are a Refreshing new rock music for everyone and anyone is probably how to best describe The Intent’s unique, yet infectious sound. And it is easy to see how, from the exciting diversity of music they have on offer.

But what makes The Intent’s music different from the rest of the bands, artists, singer/songwriters you hear nowadays, is that it is unique and simply put, different. It has power and drive to it, but also has tantalizing melodies laden with catchy hooks that are all geared by fantastic drum beats and bass – these give a further meaning to the turning cogs of their songs. “Our influences are: Foo Fighters, You me at Six, Fightstar, Biffy Clyro, Muse, The Beatles and lots more” Our band members are: Matt Golder Vocals/Guitar Liam Skelly Drums Alex Dawson Bass guitar/Backing vocals.

Performing at 11.50 will be Heidi McRoberts a 24 year old mum. Heidi sings various rock bands as well as pursuing her own solo acoustic work. Heidi puts her own unique spin on popular rock, pop and metal songs as well as including my own original material which is a mix of catchy pop hooks, punky chords and rhythms and a big dose of attitude!!

After a very successful fun dog show last year it is returning again this year at 12.20. This event has kindly been sponsored by Wagg, and Skinners dog food and they have given us some amazing prizes to give away. The classes include Handsomest dog, Prettiest bitch, Fastest Recall, Longest Stay, Dog Most like its owner, Dog the judge would like to take home, Waggiest tail, Best Veteran (8 Years Plus), Best rescue dog, Cutest Puppy, Musical Sit, Last Class of the day FREE entry to any dog that hasn’t won in a previous class.

At 13.20 the sensational International Tenner Singer Jack W Ollett aged 26 from Worlingham will be showcasing his love of music through Soul, Swing and much more. Jack’s set list includes songs from well known artists Tom Jones, the Drifters, a few of his favourite songs from the musicals and much more. Jack has a great passion for music and has enjoyed singing from a young age and has performed in the past for Spotlight in Beccles and Waveney Light Opera group.

Taking their place in our arena at 14.10 will be Bokwa Fitness Bokwa Fitness is an exercise class inspired by South African dance created by Paul Mavi. It is easy to follow with simple steps including letter and number and Hand Sign Language for the hard of hearing. It is an effective body workout. Come Join The Bokwa Buzz with Chloe.

Following Bokwa fitness in the Arena at 14.30 will be Florido School of Dance, which were formed in September 2013, and includes lessons for children’s Street Dance for ages 5-11 years, adults.

Taking centre stage at 14.40 will be No Story goes who are a Modern Punk Rock four piece from Lowestoft. Formed in 2013 No Story Goes are planning to bring a fresh new sound to the music world. With influences such as Lower Than Atlantis, Severe Zero and Alkaline Trio. Each band member has a great past of being in other local bands, and No Story Goes always deliver a lively, mind – blowing live set!

We are back in the arena at 15.10 for Jive Bunnies Nigel and Gill have been running Jivebunnies dance group for the last 5 years in and around the Beccles area,teaching Lindy Hop, Swing Jive and Balboa at Rockland St Mary Norwich on Mondays, Blythburgh Village Hall on Wednesdays and Lowestoft United Reformed Church on Thursdays. We also arrange Dances and Tea Dances in Beccles public hall, Blythburgh Village Hall and other halls. We also cater for private functions, weddings, birthdays ,themed events etc, Nigel is also a DJ and is known as The MuffinMan playing tunes from 30’s/40’s/50’s RnB and electro swing.

At 1600 hours Tom Elgie will be singing live taking centre stage. Tom Elgie is a swing singer from Beccles who also dabbles in pop and other styles. Regular artists tom covers include Michael Buble, Robbie Williams and frank Sinatra to name a few. His also known for appearing in local amateur dramatics, most recently appearing in Waveney light opera groups curtains.

Rounding up our line up of full on entertainment at 16.30 will be Miss Fortune who have recently formed all-girl-rock band based in Norwich We’re Beth, Amy, Georgia, Molly and Libby. Our influences consist of Joan Jett and The Runaways, Paramore, Brand New & Versaemerge. We can’t wait to perform at Beccles Rose May Fete 2014

Also in the village Hall there will be cream teas, cakes, and light refreshments being served thought-out the day.

Beccles Rose May Fete organisers hope that we have a line up of entertainment and competitions which suit all age groups. Entry to this event is via donation only.
