The gardens opening for the National Gardens Scheme in April feature rare and unusual plants amongst plenty of spring colour and one garden even has roaming exotic birds and animals!

Starting on April 11, SHORELANDS WILDLIFE GARDENS at Langmere near Diss  offers something for all ages with unusual trees and flocks of roaming cranes on the lawns. Children will have fun spotting the free ranging marmoset and tamarin monkeys in the trees and on the lawns!

On the same day EAST RUSTON OLD VICARAGE East Ruston, opens its renowned 20 acre garden which is filled with a kaleidoscope of colour in the sunken garden and the desert wash. There are water features, rare and unusual plants and some innovative combinations.

 16 WITTON LANELittle Plumstead opening on Sunday April 12 is a tiny paradise for rare bulbs and woodland plants including the National Collection of Muscari. Owner Richard Hobbs travels worldwide adding to his collection of rarities and is a willing host keen to share his extensive horticultural knowledge.

On Sunday April 19  MANNINGTON HALL nr Saxthorpe/Corpusty has 20 acres of gardens and countryside walks. The setting is a glorious moated manor house and nearby there is a Saxon church to explore

CHESTNUT FARM  at West Beckham opens on Sunday April 26. Enthusiastic plants lovers John and Judy McNeil Wilson have gardened here for 50 years and their love of plants has enabled them to build an extensive collection of rare and unusual shrubs in a lovely natural setting. Like all good gardeners they are keen to share their knowledge!

All the gardens are providing homemade teas and will have plants for sale.

Shorelands offers something for visitors of all ages, borders overflowing with unusual perennials, gravel beds with grasses and bulbs, shrubberies containing rare and unusual trees and a new edible garden situated next to our collection of rare breed poultry. The garden is predominantly known for its free roaming animals that incl flocks of cranes on the lawns and marmoset monkeys in the trees. Largest crane (Birds) breeder in the country, birds can bee seen on all lawns. Free Range Monkeys! 4 groups of Marmosets and Tamarins free in the garden.

East Ruston Old Vicarage

20-acre exotic coastal garden incl traditional borders, exotic garden, desert wash, sunk garden, topiary, water features, walled and Mediterranean gardens. Many rare and unusual plants, stunning plant combinations, wild flower meadows, old-fashioned cornfield, vegetable and cutting gardens.

Blacksmith Toby Winterbourn will exhibit a collection of his Garden Sculpture on Sun 1 March. Plant sales and visiting nurseries. Wheelchair access weather dependent.
