Robert Taylor talks 

Local author Robert Taylor will be discussing his new book at Beccles and Saxmundham libraries next Thursday (16 April)

Robert was born with a hereditary eye condition, Retinitis Pigmentosa, which gradually leads to total blindness. He used to love playing all sports, but is now registered blind and has taken up writing in his spare time. He has worked in the construction industry for over thirty years as a quantity surveyor, and enjoys travelling and learning about local history.

Robert will be talking about his life and his new book ‘Lionheart’. Lionheart which follows investigative journalist’s Sean Bryant is hot on the trail of the Knights Tempest, an underground, neo-Nazi organization. Robert will be at Saxmundham Library at 10.30am and will be speaking at Beccles Library’s Top Time session from 2pm to 3pm.  The Beccles talk is part of the library’s regular Top Time events which are aimed at older people but anyone is welcome to attend the free talk.

Fritton-Owl-Sanctuary

Harry Potter event and Owls at Lowestoft Library

There’s a distinct owl theme to World Book night at Lowestoft Library on Thursday 23 April!

Fritton Owl Sanctuary is bringing an array of beautiful owls to the library between 4.30pm and 6.30pm.  At the same time the library is hosting a Harry Potter themed event celebrate World Book Night and there will be games, quizzes and pumpkin juice. Both events are running in the library at the same time. They are both free and anyone is welcome to come along on the day.

Italian and Spanish courses

Lowestoft Library are launching a new beginner’s Spanish course with a free taster next Tuesday (14 April) from 6-8pm. The full course will then start on Tuesday 21 April and run for 3 weeks, consist of two 2-hour lessons per week (Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-8pm). The cost of the course is £60 for six two hour lessons.

 Saxmundham Library is also running a ten-week Italian for Beginners course from 23 April.

The lessons will take place every week from 6.30pm to 8.30pm (except 28 May). The course costs £90 and there is a free taster session and a chance to meet the Italian tutor next Thursday (16 April) from 6.30-7.30pm)

Peter Hayward at Lowestoft Library 

On Saturday 25 April there is a chance to meet Peter Hayward, author of the ‘Learn with Alex and Anna’ books. Peter will be in Lowestoft Library’s foyer from 10.30am to 2pm.
