What do you love about Norwich?

In 2014 The Norwich Lanes were selected as the winner for the City Category of the Great British High Street Awards. Nominated by Norwich BID, the Lanes beat 135 other entries to win the prestigious award, this was a fantastic achievement for the Norwich Lanes and Norwich BID who received recognition on a local and national level.

This year Norwich BID are ambitiously extending their nomination to include the whole of the city centre and are hoping Norwich will be recognised for its innovation and unique approach to the challenges of the modern high street.

Stefan Gurney (Executive Director of Norwich BID) explained “It’s important that we continue to celebrate Norwich’s thriving high street and we hope the public will once again back our nomination for this award. We hope the whole city will be recognised for its uniqueness; including the innovative events, marketing campaigns and technology used to make a positive impact to our city centre”.

Norwich BID invests in a number of events including Norwich Fashion Week, Norwich City of Ale, Norfolk Food & Drink, Norfolk & Norwich Festival and Run Norwich. All rely on Norwich BID investment for success and growth, whilst adding huge benefit and driving increased footfall through the city centre. The Norwich BID has also developed a number of city centre initiatives which they hope will win over the judges including the largest recycling scheme of its kind in the UK, Norwich’s Christmas lights, the ALERT crime initiative, the City of Stories campaign, the City Hosts project, the Head Out Not Home events and the Discover Norwich App.

Support for last year’s campaign saw a surge in footfall and had a positive effect on business in the Lanes – it is hoped that this year the whole city centre will benefit from the nomination to the Great British High Street Award.
