Based on true life events at Burnham Market in the 1830s, the play relates the story of the last two women to be hanged in Norfolk. Catherine Frary and Frances Billings were found guilty of murder on several counts, dispatching their hapless victims by mixing arsenic into tasty dumplings, and were publicly hanged for their crimes in 1835.

Using recipes and songs, the murderesses tell their own story, in what they considered to be simply a matter of “Good Housekeeping”.

This event is organised in partnership with Creative Arts East with funding by Norfolk County Council, Arts Council England and North Norfolk District Council.
