Thetford Historical Character Walk

Thetford Players are making their final preparations to bring stories from the town’s history to life on Sunday 31 May 2015, in the first of three entertaining walks taking place over the coming months.

Join former Thetford residents such as Thomas Paine, Betty Radcliffe and Sir Joseph Williamson as well as other characters with links to the town such as Boudicca and Catherine of Aragon as the local amateur dramatic group present a theatrical interpretation of stories and events relating to Thetford’s past.

Jo Cooper, Thetford Players Chairperson, said “The cast includes some of the group’s younger members as well as some new faces taking part in the Historical Character Walk for the first time. It is a fun event for visitors and local people to hear some interesting stories about well known and less well known people who lived and had connections to Thetford.”

The different characters will guide visitors on a 90 minute, wheelchair friendly walk beginning at 2pm outside The Albion on Castle Street, stopping at the Guildhall and by the river, also taking in The Bell and the Priory ruins before finishing at the Thomas Paine hotel.

Tickets for the Historical Character Walks cost £6 or 4 for £20 and are available in advance from Leaping Hare box office, 20 King Street or online at www.leapinghare.org

The walk will be repeated on Sunday 12 July, with the final one of the year on Sunday 30 August as part of Thetford’s Great Festival.
