Time To Talk Day

The NHS Wellbeing Service in Great Yarmouth will be providing the public with the opportunity to discuss mental health issues to coincide with national Time To Talk Day.

Staff from the Great Yarmouth and Waveney Wellbeing Service will be in the main thoroughfare of Market Gates Shopping Centre in Great Yarmouth on Thursday, 5 February, 9am to 5pm.

Time To Talk Day is part of the Time to Change campaign, led by Mind and Rethink Mental Illness, England’s biggest programme to challenge mental health stigma and discrimination.

Having a mental health problem is hard enough, but isolation and stigma can make it even worse. National Time To Talk Day wants everyone to have a five minute conversation about mental health, to break the silence surrounding mental illness.

Clinical Team Leader with the Wellbeing Service, Emily Keates, said: “We’re looking forward to meeting as many members of the public as possible. This is a great opportunity for local people to talk to us about any mental health concerns they may have and to find out more about the service we provide.

“Our trained advisors will be available to talk to individuals about their own mental health or that of a friend or relative. We want to break down some of the taboos that surround mental illness. It’s something that affects people from all backgrounds and being able to talk about it can be the first step towards getting the help and support that people need.”

The Wellbeing Service offers a range of self-help techniques and therapies to help people manage common mental health issues such as anxiety, stress and depression. It offers telephone based treatments, online therapy and face to face appointments in local venues throughout the Yarmouth and Waveney area. Group sessions include one off workshops and four session courses on subjects including stress control and positive wellbeing.
